Internal Communication: The Multi-Site Company Challenge (3/7) – Showcasing Internal Successes

Employees need role models and inspiring examples of success to stay motivated and guide their actions. Recognizing internal wins is therefore essential. Yet in multi-site companies, one team's achievements are often invisible to others — and vice versa — receiving no internal visibility at all. This typically stems from understandable reasons: not wanting to seem boastful, the belief that a success isn't important enough, that colleagues won't care, that why this one and not another, and so on.

Not sharing wins — within teams and across teams — is always a mistake.
Celebrate to Inspire
Shared ambition alone is not enough. You also need to set a direction and measure progress along the way: learn to spot the small (and big!) wins, and make a habit of sharing and celebrating them. Without ostentation or self-congratulation.
But to make goals feel attainable, to inspire, and to spark emulation — from one person to the next, one team to the next, one location to the next.
A Thousand Successes Worth Celebrating
In any company, so many achievements deserve recognition:
- Performance milestones (business-value outcomes):
- individual (e.g., top salesperson of the month)
- and collective (e.g., a won tender, record quarterly revenue…)
- Initiatives (cultural and mindset contributions):
- individual (e.g., an employee training their peers)
- and collective (e.g., a skills-based volunteering program with a nonprofit)
- and all wins that bring a sense of relief: the CFO after closing the year-end accounts, the CIO after completing the migration to a new ERP, the Marketing team after launching the new corporate website, the Sales team after a client publicly endorses your value, the Facilities team after a smooth office relocation, and so on.

How to Showcase Successes
Practical ways to recognize achievements:
- run a post-mortem, capture what was learned from the experience
→ culture of sharing best practices → enriching collective know-how - choose the right distribution channel: enterprise social network, company LinkedIn page, internal newsletter…
- pick the most impactful format: image, infographic, video…
- where relevant: give those internal successes external visibility too
- and carefully maintain a sense of balance in the attention given to each site, team, department, or subsidiary to ensure overall fairness
Recognizing Internal Successes: What Can You Expect?

Recognizing (small and large) wins should quickly generate a boost in creativity (individual and collective), renewed motivation (individual and collective), stronger individual engagement (involvement and drive to improve), greater emulation between teams, and a richer company culture (everyone as an intrapreneur).
